Tree Service in Sachse, TX

After the 2024 Storm in Sachse

Sachse residents who called for Tree Service in late May 2024 learned a detail that applies after every storm. The city's storm debris cleanup plan, sent out on May 30, 2024, described the storm as severe and widespread and set up a special residential collection: unbundled piles at the front curb, limbs cut to roughly 10-foot lengths if possible, kept out of the street and away from cars, mailboxes and hydrants. It also said, in so many words, that professional tree-trimming services must continue to haul their own debris.

Why that matters to you

If you hire anyone to remove a broken tree, the wood is their responsibility to take away, storm or no storm. We include chipping and hauling in the estimate so there is no pile at the curb that the city will not touch. If you clean up small limbs yourself, Sachse's normal service through Community Waste Disposal handles brush separately from bulk; brush can go out no earlier than the Saturday before your collection day, and bulk is capped at six cubic yards. The city's 2024 plan also noted that residents with two forms of ID showing a Sachse address could take storm debris to the landfill with no limit on load size.

What breaks in a Sachse storm

After wind events, the damage we see follows a pattern: 1. Dead limbs that let go first and tear into the canopy below. 2. Bradford pears and other narrow-forked trees splitting down the middle. 3. Tall, thin trees in backyards that grew up crowded and toppled once a neighbor's tree came down. 4. Uprooted trees in saturated clay, especially where roots were cut for fences, patios or pools. Only the last of those is hard to see coming. The first three are what routine pruning addresses.

Two counties, one city

Sachse lies in both Collin and Dallas counties; Collin County addresses attend Wylie ISD and Dallas County addresses attend Garland ISD. The city sits off SH 78 and the President George Bush Turnpike, about a mile north of Firewheel Town Center. Both counties are on Texas A&M Forest Service's list of confirmed emerald ash borer locations, so ash anywhere in Sachse should be on your radar.

A settled, owner-occupied town

William Sachse, an immigrant from Prussia, founded the community in 1845 on 640 acres; the railroad's 1886 depot sign misspelled the name as "Saxie" until 1892. Today Census QuickFacts lists 84.7% of homes as owner-occupied and 91.1% of residents in the same house a year earlier. Settled owners tend to have mature trees and to want them kept healthy, which is why most of our Sachse work outside storm season is pruning rather than removal. A short pre-season list helps: look up into each large tree for hanging or cracked limbs, check the base for mushrooms or loose soil, and note anything leaning over the roof or the fence.

Sachse Questions

Will Sachse pick up storm debris from a tree company?

No. The city's 2024 storm plan said professional tree-trimming services must haul their own debris, and that is our standing practice. Storm collections are for residents' own cleanup.

How long can I leave brush at the curb?

Sachse says brush should not go out earlier than the Saturday before your collection day. Use the CWD address lookup the city links to find your day.

A tree is leaning on my fence after a storm. Is it an emergency?

It can be. If the root plate has lifted or soil is cracked on one side, the tree may continue to fall. Keep people out of the area and call (469) 421-7984; if it touches power lines, call the utility first.

Can you prune my trees before storm season?

Yes. Late winter and early spring are good times to remove deadwood and reduce heavy limbs before the spring storm season begins.
